FAQ - General
I cannot connect to resolink.
Why?
- If you don't hear your modem dials, then check the following
:
- modem is turned on
- phone line is connected properly (from
wall to modem)
- COM port setting is correct
- If you cannot login to our computer, check
your user ID and password
- If you use Win95 and you cannot start
a PPP session, check your TCP/IP configuration

I get disconnected
by an application. Why ?
- These are the most common reasons
for losing a connection :
- loose cable connection
- excessive noise with your telephone
line
- your telephone line is equipped
with call waiting service and it is not disabled

What is "No socket
available" error ?
- If you are currently running other programs,
you might be running out of memory. Close the applications
that you are not using. You may even have to restart your
computer.

Why is it very
slow ?
- There are a number of reasons
that can slow down a connection :
- you are trying to connect to a distant
site
- the site you are trying to connect
to is very busy
- you are using a slow modem (non-28.8+
modem)

Why did I see
a lot of garbage ?
- The garbage can be characters other
than the English characters. If you'd like to see these
characters, you need the right fonts and fonts management
software

How can I read Chinese
on the internet ?
- For English Windows users, you
may download a software called "Unionway" from the following
site :
http://www.unionway.com
- For Chinese Windows (Big5) users, you
should be able to see these Chinese characters automatically.

What is BIG5 code
?
- The computer looks at characters as
codes(numbers). Even the standard English characters and
symbols are codes in the computer point of view. There
are standards that developers follow in coding characters.
ASCII code is a standard accepted internatio nally where
BIG5 is a standard in the Chinese world.
